What is the Framework for Equity?
The Framework for Equity champions a shared vision of a school community where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed. It commits our school board to eliminating systemic barriers, fostering inclusive and culturally responsive learning environments, and embedding equity across all operational and educational practices. Through these core principles, the Framework guides our collective responsibility to ensure justice, diversity, and belonging for all students and staff.
Background and Creation
This document was developed last year following an extensive consultation process led by the school board’s JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Committee. The committee gathered the voices, experiences, and perspectives of employees, students, parents and guardians, elected commissioners and community members across our network. Grounded in these shared insights, the Framework is built upon firm commitments supported by a concrete action plan that is actively being implemented.
