Our Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
As we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Western Quebec School Board reaffirms its commitment to fostering understanding, respect, and meaningful learning about the histories, experiences, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples.
Throughout the year, students and staff across our schools and centres engage in learning opportunities that encourage reflection, dialogue, and a deeper understanding of Truth and Reconciliation. While September 30 serves as an important moment of reflection and awareness, reconciliation is an ongoing journey that extends beyond a single day.
At WQSB, we recognize that reconciliation is not a destination, but a continuous process of learning, listening, and building relationships. We remain committed to creating inclusive learning environments that encourage curiosity, understanding, and respect, while supporting meaningful engagement with Indigenous perspectives and experiences.
We invite our students, staff, families, and community members to explore the Truth and Reconciliation resources available on our website and to join us in this ongoing journey of learning and reflection. These resources were curated by Drew Wapachee-McDougall, Educational Consultant, Indigenous Pedagogy and Curriculum Development, at the Western Quebec School Board.
