2019 Secondary French Public Speaking Competition

What a great contest we had on Wednesday, April 17! Many thanks to Philemon Wright High School who graciously hosted the 2019 Concours d’art oratoire.  There were many interesting and well-prepared speeches.

After the presentations, the judges, Mme. Bourdy, Mme. Dompierre, Mme. Forget, Mme. Piercy, M. Stancescu and Mme. Turcotte had the difficult task of picking the top ranking speakers for each category.  After meeting and discussing, the judges concluded the following

Grades 7 & 8 Grades 9 & 10 Grade 11
Core Sophia Paniagua Galindo n/a Sawyer McCulloch
Enriched Daila Lukss Rachel Becher Lucy Backstrom
Enriched Plus Sasha Ayers-Itabashi n/a Jessica Richardson
Immersion Grace Holmes Damian Levac Tyler Woodburn
Francophone Furaha-Safi Karubara n/a Amanda Peel

Well done to all the participants! The audience was captivated by the speeches and impressed by the readiness of the participants.

Thank you to all of the teachers and special thanks to Mme. Béchard and Virginia Lavigne, who coordinated the competition. Without their continued support, we would never be able to put on events like these.
