WQSB Bus Safety Campaign – “Did You See Me?”

Coordinated by the Bus Carriers Federation, the Western Québec School Board would like to remind everyone of the importance of safety and responsible behaviour around school transportation, as part of the 38th Provincial School Transportation Safety Campaign.

This awareness campaign runs from January 26 to February 6, 2026, and aims to encourage students, parents, schools, and all road users to adopt safe practices to help protect students and ensure safe school transportation for all.

An important reminder for all road users

Each year, unsafe situations are observed near school buses, often due to inattention or failure to respect school bus signals and stop requirements.

The WQSB strongly encourages all drivers to remain cautious—especially in school zones and during peak transportation times—and to:

  • obey all school bus signals and mandatory stops
  • slow down when approaching school buses
  • remain alert for children crossing the street or walking near bus stops.

“Did You See Me?” – A Clear Safety Message

The campaign slogan, “Did You See Me?”, highlights two essential safety reminders:

For drivers: stay alert and respect school bus signals and frequent stops;
For students: always ensure you are visible and establish eye contact with the driver before crossing the street or approaching the bus.

Safety: Everyone’s Responsibility

Ensuring student safety during school transportation is a shared responsibility. By adopting safe and respectful behaviours, we all contribute to a safer environment for children and for the entire school community.

The WQSB thanks parents, students, staff members, and transportation partners for their continued cooperation.
