April 27 Teachers Strike Cancelled

Please take note that the previously scheduled Western Quebec Teacher’s Association strike action for April 27 has been cancelled. As a result, there will be no changes to any school or centre schedule on Tuesday, April 27.

A reminder that emergency measures currently in effect for schools in the Outaouais region will continue through to Friday, April 30th. These schools and centres will maintain their schedules through distance learning.

Schools and centres in Region 08 (listed below) will maintain in-school classes:

  • G. Théberge School
  • Golden Valley School
  • Noranda School
  • Anishnabe Adult Education Centre
  • Western Quebec Continuing Education Centre in Val d’Or

Good Morning parents, guardians, and adult and vocational education students,

The Western Quebec Teacher Association (WQTA, the teachers’ union) has advised us that a legal strike action will occur on Tuesday, April 27th, beginning at 2:45 pm.

  • While all WQSB schools in the Outaouais region will continue with previously scheduled online learning, the school day will end for them at 2:44 pm
  • WQSB schools and centres in Region 08 (listed below) will end their respective school days earlier than normal, and transportation will be rescheduled accordingly
    • – G. Théberge School: the school day will end in mid-afternoon; buses will begin to transport students home at 2:20 pm
    • – Golden Valley School: the school day will end at noon; buses will begin to transport students home at 11:20 am
    • – Noranda School: the school day will end at lunch time; buses will begin to transport students home at 12:00 pm
    • – Please note that daycare services at G. Théberge School, Golden Valley School, and Noranda School will be open in the am but closed in the pm
    • – Anishnabe Adult Education Centre: classes will end at 2:30 pm
    • – Western Quebec Continuing Education Centre in Val d’Or: classes will end at 2:30 pm
