Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
As you may know, the Planning and Review Committee of the Western Quebec School Board has held a series of public consultations regarding the transportation and enrolment criteria for St. Mike’s High School and Hadley-Philemon Wright High School. Based on the feedback from the public consultations and in respecting articles 4, 239, and 275 of the Quebec Education Act, a proposed resolution was presented and passed at the Council of Commissioners meeting held on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020.
As a result of the passed resolution, the following transportation and enrolment criteria are in effect for the 2020-2021 school year:
- Students who reside within the Chelsea Elementary School boundaries will be promoted to Hadley Junior High School upon successful completion of grade 6;
- Students who reside within the Greater Gatineau Elementary School boundaries will be promoted to Hadley Junior High School upon successful completion of grade 6;
- Students who reside within the Poltimore Elementary School boundaries will be provided with the option of attending either St. Mike’s High School or Hadley-Philemon Wright High School;
- Students who reside within the Queen Elizabeth Elementary boundaries will be promoted to St. Mike’s High School upon successful completion of grade 6;
- Students who reside within the Wakefield Elementary School boundaries will be provided with the option of attending either St. Mike’s High School or Hadley-Philemon Wright High School.
It is important for you to take note of the following:
- All students who are currently enrolled at St. Mike’s High School or Hadley-Philemon Wright High School will be grandfathered to remain at their current high school until graduation
- Parents of students who wish to attend a school other than the one their child is designated to attend, may apply for a cross-boundary transfer by accessing the link below: ca/registration/register-a-student-to-school
I ask that you please send concerns and or questions to me at the email address below; I will ensure that these are answered in a timely and meaningful manner.
Sincerely,
