Long-time commissioner Rhonda Boucher passes away

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Commissioner Rhonda Boucher, representative of Ward 6, and Vice-Chair of the WQSB Council of Commissioners. Very active in the WQSB community, Rhonda was an advocate for students and staff, and was committed to doing whatever necessary to promote and support teaching and learning in our schools and centres. Rhonda sat on regional and provincial committees; previous to sitting as commissioner for Ward 6, Rhonda served as Governing Board Chair of Poltimore Elementary School, where she played an important role in the school being granted a new gymnasium. Rhonda also served as Chair of the WQSB Parents’ Committee, Chair of the Special Education Advisory Committee, and President of the English Parents’ Committee Association of Québec, during which time she lobbied fiercely for the rights of English education in Québec.

Rhonda will be missed; the Western Québec School Board is very fortunate to have benefitted from her commitment and contributions.

Sincerely,

Wayne Daly, Chairman
Western Québec School Board
