Transportation reimbursement process to families affected by the bus driver strike

Dear parents and guardians of students transported by Autobus Lasalle and Bigras Transport,

This update is regarding the reimbursement process for transportation expenses. As mentioned in the letter of May 26, parents and guardians of students who are affected by the bus strike are entitled to reimbursement under the following conditions:

The reimbursement period begins May 1 – the first day of the strike – and continues until the end of the strike. Based on our Transportation Policy, the rate of reimbursement is as follows:

  • 0 km to 13.9 km = $10.00 per day
  • 14 km and over = $20.00 per day
  • Additional 50% when travelling to two schools with different schedules

It is important to note that all requests must be submitted to the schools by June 23, 2023 and any requests received after this date will not be considered.

We are currently processing reimbursement requests that have been received to date. Our current capacity is to handle 100 requests per day. We anticipate that all reimbursements will be processed by July 14, 2023.

The current situation is not ideal, and we understand that parents and guardians require reimbursements as soon as possible.

Schools are currently receiving many calls regarding payment updates. We ask that you avoid contacting schools for updates, as this will not expedite the process.
