The position of President of our school board’s Council of Commissioners is open for nominations, in preparation for a school board election on February 20, 2022. The returning officer is accepting nomination papers until January 16, 2022.

Public notice of school board election

Public notice is hereby given to the electors of the Western Québec school board by the returning officer, that:

  1. The following position is open for nominations: Position of President of Council
  2. Nomination papers for this position must be filed at the office of the returning officer on the following days
    and times. Due to Covid-19 safety measures in place, nomination papers will be received at the following locations by appointment only:

  3. If two or more candidates are nominated for the same position,
    • A poll will be held on February 20, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.,
    • An advance poll will be held on February 13, 2022 from 9.30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  4. I have nominated Ms. Rachel Vincent to act as the election clerk.
  5. An elector who does not have a child admitted to the educational services of the English-language school board or the French school service centre serving his/her domicile may choose to exercise or revoke their right to vote at an English-language school board. This choice is made by sending a notice in writing to the returning officer of the English-language school board, from January 22 to February 1, at the latest 10 p.m.

Information to electors who wish to exercise their right to vote

To exercise their right to vote, a person must be registered on the electors list of the Western Québec School Board on the date of the election.

In order to be on the electoral list of the WQSB a person must be a qualified voter according to the School Elections Act. (art. 12)

You ARE QUALIFIED if you meet the following criteria:

  • You have attained 18 years of age
  • You are a Canadian citizen
  • You are domiciled in the area administered by the School Board
  • You have been domiciled in Quebec for at least 6 months
  • You are not under curatorship
  • You have not been convicted within the past 5 years of any corrupt electoral or referendum practices

You are NOT eligible to be on the electoral list of the WQSB if:

  • You have a child enrolled in educational services provided by a Francophone-Language School Service Centre.

Who can vote for the WQSB according to the elections act (art. 15):

  • Any elector who has a child admitted at the WQSB
  • Any elector who does not have a child admitted at the WQSB and is domiciled in the territory, if the elector so chooses.
  • Any elector whose child was enrolled at the WQSB and has finished school is deemed to have chosen to be registered on the list of the WQSB

Complete the form below. Once the form is completed, please return it to Ms. Rachel Vincent, Election Clerk by mail (15 Katimavik, Gatineau QC J9J 0E9), fax (819-684-6810), or email (rvincent@wqsb.qc.ca). The completed forms will be processed during the revision period and when the Revision Committee is sitting, between January 22 to February 1, 2022.
