Letter to parents: Impacts of the renegotiating of our school transportation contracts

Dear parents and guardians,

We wish to inform you that like most school boards and service centers in the province of Québec, we have been renegotiating our transportation contracts with our different carriers. Unfortunately, despite the revised and improved offer from the Québec Government, the school transporters consider that the amounts offered are not sufficient to compensate for their increase in operational costs. To date we have not been able to reach an agreement. As a result, if no agreement is reached by the start of the school year, transportation may not be available for students.

We are aware of the impact that the cancellation of school transportation would have on families and students. Please be assured that we are doing everything in our power to resolve this situation before the start of the school year.

While negotiations are ongoing, we encourage you to plan for alternative transportation in the event of a temporary service disruption.

We are closely following the situation and you will be kept informed by your school Principal on any new developments. Please note that we will also have updated information posted on our website.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,

Mike Dubeau
Director General
