Dear Parent/Guardian,

Recently, MEQ Minister of Education, Mr. Jean François Roberge announced that all schools in the province have been allocated three days to be used for training and planning. In his announcement to school boards and schools, minister Roberge stated that the additional days were to be used to “facilitate the sharing of best practices, and to enable school teams to better plan for the months ahead.” It should be noted that this provincial amendment adds three training and planning days to the calendar of “all institutions offering preschool education, elementary education or secondary education, regardless of the alert zone where they are located.” Students will not attend school on these three days.

Principals in all schools in the Western Québec School Board have held meetings with their respective staffs to determine the dates of these three days, as mandated by the Minister of Education. Note that the days have been scheduled between October 29 and the end of the 2020-2021 school year, and they cannot account for more than one additional day per month.

Parents whose children attend daycare at their respective schools will be provided with free daycare from the Ministry of education for the three additional days. In his statement, Minister Roberge emphasized that the Ministry of Education will finance this measure.

Note that all Western Québec schools will advise parents of the three additional days dedicated to training and planning, as directed by the Minister of Education.

Sincerely,

George Singfield
Secretary General and Director of Corporate Services
